Seem Edit for Motorola KRZR K1 Phone

I received my unlocked Motorola KRZR K1 phone last week but was not able to use any of the features at all. It appears that the phone needs a SIM card to gain access to all the setup screens. Looking around the web let me to a webpage that listed detailed direction for a seem edit to allow the phone to work without a SIM card. Now I am able to play music, use the camera to take photos and movies. The only thing I cannot do is make a phone call. I do have a Transflash memory card in the phone to store music and photos for now.

The phone I purchased off eBay appears to be made for the Hong Kong market. It has some Chinese characters in the language option and the default web page points to a Motorola HK site. So far the phone appears to be working well. The only problem is that the "camera" option is not working. If I need to take a photo, I will have to go into Multimedia->Pictures->New Picture to active the camera. I'll have to play around a bit and see if I can get this thing to work.

This is my first GSM cell phone. I have been with Verizon for years and did my share of seem mods on phones without need for a SIM card. It is always a little nerve-recking doing the seem edits. I must have read the instructions 20 times before I started the process tonight. At the end, it went relatively well. I just hope the "camera" issue is not a sign of other phone problems.

The Italian SIM chip should be coming soon.
